Party Pooper

I’m officially at a whit’s end when it comes to the Democratic Party’s relationship with Black America. Besides Barack Obama, who stands out as a terrific example for us? Jesse Jackson? Maxine Waters? Our politicians continue to be mired in scandal and enough regrettable quotes to employ Stephen Colbert for 10 more seasons. All while remaining more irrelevant to our actual needs every year. Blacks and Browns are more likely to be killed by violent crime and by police brutality. The Democrats answer is to push for stricter gun control laws, effectively ensuring that only criminals and cops have the right to protect themselves. Our schools still lag behind in rigor and facility quality, despite the fact that we pay the same taxes as our more affluent neighbors.

All this seems to be lost on our candidates though. They always blame the opposition, whether they be White people or Republicans. Here’s the honest truth. I live in the Democratic FORTRESS that is DC, there ARE no Republicans to blame (okay, there may be one or two). This city has slowly become impossible to live in as a working class person. Can’t blame any Republicans for that.

But the voters eat up every word from any candidate who come spitting that “Us vs. Them” rhetoric, and attack anyone who questions the motives or effectiveness of these candidates. We penalize anyone who looks at politics as if Democrats aren’t the solution to our problems and that is WRONG!! There are tenants held by senior Democrat leadership and advisers that are plain dangerous. If you don’t believe me, then read Miller McCune and see how many op-eds and ads reference population control. Sorry, but that SCARES me.

The ideas of the radical left influence decisions in more moderate forms and we all suffer because of it. The radical environmental agenda cripples American progress by creating a barrage of duplicitous regulations that American industry has to navigate that our competitors do not. Now not every regulation is a bad one, but science, not perception should govern what laws come to pass.

Population control is a sneaky ideal that often runs in tandem with radical environmentalism. Now these are just the facts. The affluent Whites who propose population control aren’t the ones affected by it because affluent Whites have the smallest families. All the efforts are aimed at the 3rd World and urban America. Blacks and Browns are the FIRST ones targeted for population control. I don’t have anything against birth control or legal abortions, but that is a PERSONAL issue not to be touched by government. Believe it or not, legislation mandating the sterilization of Black and Brown girls still gets drafted. While it’s often Republicans who introduce this legislation, reproductive freedom is supposed to be a tenant of the Democratic party and yet some of the Democratic elite still push to limit family size.

Another idea from radical Democrats that affects us, especially if you live in the inner city, is that all labor should be unionized. Now I have nothing against trade unions or unions that spring from a legitimate need. But the unionization of government workers is something that any city dweller has had to face at some point in time. Not all the stories are bad, but anyone who’s tried to get a public schoolteacher reprimanded or tried to get something from Human Services can tell you how well unionization works in those cases.

Everyone will have their own opinion about specific “ideals” held by different parties, but I think we can all agree there that there is great cause for frustration with our government. And despite government’s ever increasing size and reach, it seems that less and less gets done for the people of America. We have the right to demand action on the promises of our leaders. We don’t have to simply accept the good and the bad with our candidates. We task leaders to build the country that WE want. If they deliver us the country THEY want, we have the right to make them take it back and start again. If our candidates don’t listen, then we as a country have to take our government by the neck (AKA the ballot box and referendum) and drag them to where we need them to be. I’m at that point, so much so that I’m willing to cross party lines to do so. I’m tired of being a hired hand for a party that doesn’t deliver the results I need. Aren’t you?
